Once Upon a Readathon: Day 2 Mini Challenges

It's now day 2 of the once upon a time readathon, we've both been a bit behind our reading goals however the challenges are always a tonne of fun.

Mini-Challenge 1:
Hosted by Better Read Than Dead

You're in a bookstore and you've just purchased 5 books you've been dying to read, when the apocalypse hits. (Zombie, Demons, Vampires, Dean Winchester vs. Sam Winchester (yes, I'm watching Supernatural reruns) I don't care what apocalypse). You've got one chance at survival, what 2 books do you take and what 3 other items do you take?

Chantelle: Oh goodness, I'm always so bad at answering zombie apocalypse questions because I'm typically a disorganised, unprepared person anyway, so I don't think my personality is catered to these scenarios haha Anyway, I would take Divergent by Veronica Roth, because Tris was a normal girl who became bad ass due to her circumstances, and I think that's who I'd want to aspire to be in an apocalypse scenario. I think my second pick would be My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick because it never fails to cheer me up when I'm down, and I think I'd need a bit of positivity. As for items, I'd go for my warmest coat, my sneakers, and my phone to call for help.

Nara: OH GOD. THIS IS THE HARDEST QUESTION EVER. Umm...the two books: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green because it is absolutely amazing and a standalone, and Earth Girl by Janet Edwards (because for some reason I really really want to reread this book right now). Other three items: coat, matches, backpack (which can be filled with random crap that I find while scavenging).

Mini-Challenge 2:
Hosted by IB Book Blogging

Make your dream guy using characteristics, personalities, looks, and anything else you can think of from your favorite book boyfriends. For example, my dream guy would have Zachary’s accent from Shade by Jeri Smith-Ready, Cole’s smokin’ hot body from Alice in Zombieland, James’ protective instincts from The Program by Suzanne Young, Tod’s quirky personality from the Soul Screamers series by Rachel Vincent, and last but not least, a little bit of some aspect of Barrons thrown in for good measure from the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning.

Chantelle: May I start by saying I absolutely lovely this challenge, however, I pick book boyfriends by their overall package, so I can't say that I've kept track of book guys who have one particularly good trait. But if I had to choose, my dream guy would look like Alexander from The Bronze Horseman, be as loyal as Finny from If He Had Been With Me, as sweet as Jase from My Life Next Door, as nice as Sam from Speechless, as brooding as Josh from The Sea of Tranquility, as good a kisser as Kaidan from Sweet Evil, and as geeky (and well balanced) as Matt from Flat Out Love.

Nara: Looks: Adrian from Bloodlines, Accent: Will from The Infernal Devices, AWESOMENESS: Sam from Speechless and Jase from My Life Next Door, Intelligence: Augustus from The Fault in Our Stars, Humour: Kenji from the Shatter Me series.

  1. That is an excellent reason to take Divergent along. I think I would add it to my top 5 books I would grab if I could

  3. Great answers Nara and Chantelle!

@ Chantelle - Tris is also one of my favourite characters but I do love her Mother too.

@ Nara - I've heard so many great things about The Fault in Our Stars and john Green in general, should really get one of his books very soon.
