Seth’s heart is breaking. He knows his decision will hurt the one person he keeps breathing for, but he can’t take it anymore. He can’t be near Grace knowing she will always be just out of reach.

Grace is oblivious to Seth’s turmoil. She loves him unconditionally, but not in the way he wants. They both know that in Heaven physical love is forbidden, and to break the rules is to defy everything they’ve ever been taught.

When Grace and Seth are sent on a mission to save a young mother and her unborn child, Grace must face the fact that Seth won’t be returning home. She doesn’t understand Seth’s decision and hates him for it. But what neither of them realise is how big a part that single decision will play in shaping their entire future.

What would you sacrifice for the one you love?

Review by Chantelle

They say, that there's nothing worse than unrequited love... which is why I found this novella quite hard to read. Unlike Fall For Me, Sacrifice is from the POV of Seth, a fellow angel and best friend of Grace, who is the main character of this series. I found the novella quite hard to get into, because from the get go, Seth was depressed, and when the main character get's depressed, I get depressed. Cue depression.

That being said, I don't actually care much for Grace at all. She's built up as this amazingly perfect girl (from Seth's POV) and yet, after Seth's sacrifice, she ignores him for decades and doesn't give him a chance to explain himself. Seems like a grade A beeeyatch to me. Just saying.

As for the world building, I was surprised that K.A Last's 'Heaven' wasn't heaven-ish at all - angels don't all like one another, they don't even believe that the 'Father' would answer their prayers. Go figure, this version of heaven was more like a place, not unlike any other that just so happens to be inhabited by people with wings. There was also a plot hole that really annoyed me (spoilers)

So Grace and Seth receive their mission to save Amity and her baby. They dawdle a little in Heaven and then set off. Straight after, Seth renounces heaven and becomes "fallen". Grace is enormously grieved and is shortly summoned by the Council, who shows her a couple, who are apparently distant descendants of the baby Grace saved not so long ago. Say whaaaat?! If time went by on Earth so quickly, then Amity should've given birth and raised her baby long before Seth and Grace even reached her. I don't know, if I've understood this wrong, please feel free to enlighten me, because these little nitpicky things were what kept me from fully enjoying this novella.

However, towards the end of the novella, K. A. Last reveals a bit of the plot to Fall For Me, and Grace's role in it as a Protector/Vampire hunter and it was an incredibly intriguing, interestingly thought-out premise. I didn't particularly enjoy this novella, however this series definitely has a lot of potential to be amazing.

“Angels aren’t supposed to fall in love, especially with each other. But for the record, you were worth it.”

Grace Tate is a Protection Angel and Vampire Hunter, and she has always followed the rules. But some rules are made to be broken…

Until now the fight against evil has been simple, and falling in love was never part of the plan. So what happens when it’s beyond Grace’s control, and when she least expects it she falls for the wrong person?

All hell breaks loose, that’s what.

At Hopetown Valley High, not everything is as it seems, and the one person Grace thought was her enemy becomes her most important ally.

Blood will be shed, lives will be lost and friendships will be tested. It all comes down to one decision, and when Grace tries to save all those dear to her, she realises not everyone can be—or wants to be—saved.

Review by Nara

Fall For Me was quite a quick read for me. It was very action packed, with a fast pace stemming from the fact that the novel jumped quickly from one event to the next. I found that at times this was exactly what was needed, and at other times, the fast pace meant that the events didn't really flow that well. One thing I didn't really enjoy was that Last did a bit too much backtracking at the start. This was due to the fact that we had the points of view of two characters: Grace (the main character) and Josh (the love interest). It was a bit annoying to watch these rather mundane scenes unfold twice. Similar wording was also used both times, so it was basically the same point of view anyway.

The world building (i.e. the lore behind the story) was fairly good. It was quite interesting that Last brought the element of vampires into the book rather than have it just focused on angels vs fallen angels. The "orbing" and "misting" was also an interesting idea of teleportation. I especially liked the diamond tear thing (read the book to find out what this is).

The romance between the characters escalated quite quickly. This was a bit weird, and honestly, I didn't really see the connection between the characters at all. There was also a rather superficial love triangle. I really didn't like the ending. I can't say much about it for fear of spoilers, but basically, the main character just completely betrays another character after making that character do something horrible. Great friend you are...

Would I recommend the book? Yes. But probably only to people who would enjoy a rather typical angel YA.
