“Class Orientation” Participation Post:
Introduce yourself and set your goals for the read-a-thon. Some interesting information to include in this post would be Where are you blogging from? What got you into blogging/reading? What is your favorite genre? The possibilities are endless, just be creative!
Blogging from the Land Down Under (cue song)
Brief IntroductionWe are both university students from Australia who love reading and wanted to share our thoughts about the books we read. We've been blogging since November of last year, so we are still a bit new! We started blogging because we both wanted some sort of ongoing hobby to help us get through the holidays, and ended up continuing past that because we enjoyed it so much!
Favourite genre
Nara: I honestly don't have a favourite genre. I have favourite books, but they aren't defined by what genre they're in. A good book is a good book no matter whether it's contemporary, fantasy, dystopian or whatever else. (That being said, I do love a good high fantasy.)
Chantelle: haha I'm similar in that I don't have a favourite genre (although I don't like sci-fi - aliens creep me out, and not in a good way). But whatever I read, it has to have romance. Basically my philosophy is, the better the romance, the better the book.

Plan for the Read-a-Thon
Nara
Here is a photo of the 25 books that I want to read/reread as a part of this read-a-thon and the Once Upon a Read-a-Thon (if you haven't signed up for that one link here). There are a lot there (that's basically my summer to-read pile there), so I realise I probably won't get them all read, but I'll definitely make an attempt :) I decided to restrict myself to only hardcopies that I own.
The pile on the right over there is my priority pile. I want to at least get through that pile!
Chantelle
I'm a far, far, far slower read than Nara; if I spend every second, of every minute, of every hour of that day in bed, reading, I can probably finish 2 books so my reading plan is no where near as badass. However, I am an idealist, so I'm aiming to give 12 books some good ol' Summer lovin'.
Margo always loved mysteries. And in everything that came afterward, I could never stop thinking that maybe she loved mysteries so much that she became one

So I'm reading Paper Towns by John Green right now. Here is the teaser:

I recently read Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma, it is a tear-jerking must-read!
Teaser 1: Being together, we harm nobody; being apart, we extinguish ourselves.
Teaser 2: "At the end of the day, what the hell does it matter who I end up with if it can't be you?"

Wow, you ladies are aiming high with these goals. :D Best of luck! I find it quite funny that even with all those, there isn't a single one that I have read. However, I've seen Divergent pop up on a lot of posts as well as Siege and Storm. Definitely have those books on my TBR! :D
ReplyDelete(Also yay high fantasy!)
Yeah my goal's probs a bit ambitious haha. Those are just the possible ones I could read, I know I won't get them all read :)
DeleteAMAZING!!! I struggle with 1 book a day but you guys have planned for a FANTASTIC book fest! I could go on and on and on to list all the books that I wish I could've read but ahh!!! SO EXCITED for you guys, all the best and hope you reach your goals :)

We're on holidays right now, so we can literally read all day haha :)
DeleteHappy reading to you too!
Wow. Your TBR lists for the read-a-thon are HUGE!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with them & I hope you manage to read all of those books! :D
Wow. Good luck!
ReplyDeletePaper Towns is my favorite John Green book. I like your other choices too. Some of them are books I plan to read in the future. <3
Hello :) You guys have some fabulous books listed to read. Some I've read, some are on my shelf, and some are on my reading list this week, too.
ReplyDeleteOf those I've read, Divergent, Shatter Me and What Happens Next were all great.
The main one you have listed that I do, too, is Siege and Storm.
Anyway, have a great week and happy reading! :D
Woah girl!! Your reading goals are ambitious! :-) I'm sure you'll be able to knock out your priority pile for sure. I've read a few of those and I think you'll enjoy them. I've read Divergent, Gameboard of the Gods, The Infernal Devices Trilogy, Daughter of Smoke & Bone, and Spirit Bound.
ReplyDeleteThe Sea of Tranquility and Shatter Me are on my TBR list, maybe I'll get to them soon.
BTW, great Teaser Tidbits!

You ladies have a gigantic list with some awesome lists.
ReplyDeleteNice teasers. I love John Greene, but I haven't read Paper Towns. I am hoping to get to Will Grayson, Will Grayson during this readathon.
