I enjoyed that, but I thought the same: not the best out there even though eveeerrryone seemed to love).

AH hahaha, I had a feeling you were going to point out the romance! The other review said that they got physically intimate pretty quickly. I can see how you'd dislike everything happening so suddenly, and I don't know how I'd react -- a part of me says, eh, while the other part is very much agreeing with what you've written -- but I can also see how that works for the story. I imagine with the intensity of the trauma and dealing that it's very... cope-y. If that makes sense. Like in the Duff by Kody Keplinger. Does the MC have another way to vent? Or does the romance become that sort thing on the side that distracts from the rest?

I'm not a huge fan of that quote either :(. I hate pet names like that or calling someone goddess or siren or all that stuff. They do that a bunch in some other romances I've read and meerrr..

LOL Prejudiced against Australia :P. AHHHHHH Nope, you live in Australia? Can I come visit you? Have you ever read Stolen by Lucy Christopher? It's coming up soon for me, and I hear it makes Australia sound utterly gorgeous, so I can understand putting Australia first :P.

Eh, sounds like the book just lacked that special spark for you. Sometimes even with the best of writing, you can't make up for the face that you just didn't connect with the characters.

You may be the black sleep but it's okay :P I won't judge. And maybe one day, I'll actually get around to reading this and come back and compare notes...Christina Reads YAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14937783114868207494noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3365200445147197440.post-16064897524589472062013-09-30T17:12:32.288+09:302013-09-30T17:12:32.288+09:30wow people actually do want to come here haha. Though ...So sad you didn't like this one, Nara! Though I guess I can see where you're coming from, because in ordinary circumstances, the issues you pointed out most likely would have bothered me to no end, but for some reason, they didn't in this book. I have zero idea why. O_O

"Basically the two people hardly know each other at all, have pretty much not even had any proper conversations, and BAM, SEX." - I think this was because of Callie's upbringing. She and her mom have been traveling from place to place, and let's face it: her mom isn't the best of role models out there, so I think it was only natural for Callie to pick up some of bad "habits." There's no one to tell her that sleeping with any one stranger is wrong, and *cough* Alex WAS pretty damn good looking (even though he's twenty-two), and it was probably her way of coping with her new life - by doing something she's done before. Sleeping with strangers. I don't know. That's just the reason I thought was pretty reasonable, heh.

But NARA. Why did you have to burst my happy bubble?! So many of my friends over here - myself included - want to visit Australia so badly. They want to study there, and even live there! Though I've heard a lot of people say that the cost of living there is incredibly high. Yikes.

"The writing was actually quite good. Callie had a strong and realistic narrative voice, and I can see why people have said that they really feel for her/want to hug her etc etc" - This was me. But yeah, I agree with you about Kat. Well, not so much about her weirdness, but that she was kind of cliche. You know, the stereotypical best friend who's always there for you even though you hurt her? Don't get me wrong, I liked her, but I didn't find her particularly memorable. Alex and Callie all the way, haha!

Great review, Nara! Hopefully your next book will be better. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3365200445147197440.post-65651439532160892882013-09-28T00:44:29.299+09:302013-09-28T00:44:29.299+09:30This is the 2nd review today that didn't love ...This is the 2nd review today that didn't love this book.
